John Tessitore is the principal at First Idea Communications, LLC. He is also a writer and strategist for 43,000 Feet and Senior Program Advisor at the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. For nine years, he served in a variety of capacities at the American Academy, including Program Director, and was the project leader and chief writer on several national commissions, including the blue-ribbon Commission on the Humanities and Social Sciences, the Lincoln Project, and the Commission on Language Learning. Other clients include the Harvard Business School, EMC Corporation, The Dilenschneider Group, and The Travis Manion Foundation. He has written extensively for Scholastic and Grolier Publishing Company, as well as Dennis Publishing and The Christian Science Monitor. From 2004 to 2008 he was a lecturer in History and Literature at Harvard University and has a PhD in American Studies from Boston University.
